Meet the Teacher

I'm Bekki Leber, a thirteen-year certified secondary teacher who's worked in urban and rural districts teaching social studies and ELA to regular, special education, and ESL students. I also co-taught as a cooperating teacher in inclusion math and science classes. In essence, I've taught every core class to every kind of learner, and in that time, I learned a great deal about what does and doesn't work for kids. Mostly, I realized that they don't know their own needs, how to get out of their own way, how to emotionally regulate, or that the skills teachers expect them to have when entering new grades are not inherent— they must be taught, modeled, and practiced. My goal with Scholarly is to empower students to overcome their learning obstacles and provide them with the foundational skills they'll need for academic, employment, and adult success.
