Study Skills Boot Camp (Online)
Weekly Through July & August - 5 Days (Daily 2 hour class w/ break)
A one week intensive crash course to get students caught up on foundational academic skills before the next school year. When students enter middle and high school, teachers expect them to arrive with specific foundational skills. Yet, students repeatedly move to higher grades without mastering the basic skills they need for success. This deficit leaves students to figure skills out independently, forcing them to adapt or die, resulting in many struggling on their own without realizing why. The Study Skills Boot Camp is designed to address the academic skill sets most students lack. These short but intensive lessons inform, model, and practice critical thinking, organizational, note-taking, and writing skills that teachers expect students to be equipped with yet must be taught independently.
Cost: $125
Important Note: The enrollment window for online classes ends one week prior to the Monday start date.

Writing Foundations
Sept 1st - Oct 23rd - 8 Weeks (90 min class/week)
In the digital age, writing is more important than ever. Unfortunately, the writing process isn't taught to students in the classroom. Thanks to densely packed curriculum calendars, teachers can't afford to give students the time to develop the idea generation, organization, and revision skills required for effective writing. Instead, students view writing as a one-and-done activity. The Writing Foundations course is designed to model and practice all stages of the writing process to help students develop the ability to craft effective sentence, paragraph, and essay-length responses that truly demonstrate the depth of their learning.
Cost: $400

Book Study
November 3rd - December 18th - 6 Weeks (90 min class/week)
NO CLASS WEEK OF THANKSGIVING BREAK
Reading comprehension is a life skill. Yet, by middle school, the percentage of kids who enjoy or actively read drops to 20%. In school, students are not given time to read independently or a choice in the books they read. The Book Study is designed to give students dedicated time to read, with guidance and support from the teacher. Reading together in class provides struggling readers the support they need while generating opportunities to pause, reflect, and discuss the text. Reading, annotating, and analyzing age-friendly texts enhances vocabulary and critical thinking skills, improving reading comprehension and overall learning outcomes. Books selection will rotate to create variety for students and allow them to participate in multiple studies if they choose.
Cost: $300 (book included)
